The archipelago right outside Harstad is rich in beautiful nature and wildlife.
On this trip we head out by boat to explore some of those islands, where depending on weather and season, we can spot the different animals inhabiting them.
We start in the city center of Harstad and the final destination of the trip is to reach a Kittiwake colony located in a narrow passage between Bjarkøy and Helløya. Along the way we stop to have a closer look at some islands, salmon farms and other places of interest.
Some of the animals that we frequently spot are:
- Porpoises (Nise)
- Otter (Oter)
- Eagles (Havørn)
- Puffins (Lundefugl)
- Kittiwake (Krykkjer)
- Oystercatcher (Tjeld)
- Cormorant (Skarv)
- Goose (Gjess)
- Seagulls (Måse)
The boat used during this trip is either a RIB boat (500 hp) or a Axopar 37 (600 hp) that will quickly and comfortably get us to the islands.
Bring warm clothing! Life jackets and other essentials will be supplied by us.

Start location: The guest dock is located across the street from Thon Hotel. There you will find a large playground with the Harstad Havn service building next to it.
